About Mendora
A small practice built on a simple belief. People do not need to be fixed. They need a quiet room, an honest listener, and a plan that respects their life.

Meet your psychologist
Hi, I am Dr. Amelia Hart.
I did not plan on becoming a psychologist. I was the friend people called at two in the morning, the one who actually liked listening. Somewhere along the way I stopped fighting it and made it my work. Twelve years later I still find it a privilege.
Before private practice I worked in community mental health and a hospital setting. That season taught me that good therapy is not about clever techniques. It is about being honest with the right person in the room. That is what I try to offer every person who sits across from me.
I live in Austin with my husband, two kids and a stubborn old dog named Biscuit. I drink too much coffee, I am a fair weather runner, and I practice what I preach about boundaries. Most of the time.

Credentials
Proper training, kept current.
You deserve to know who is in the room with you. Beyond the degrees on the wall, I log continuing education hours every year and stay active in peer consultation so the work keeps getting better.

What I believe
Three things you can count on.
Honesty first
You will get my real thoughts, delivered kindly. No endless nodding, no cookie cutter advice, and no pretending something is working when it is not.
Whole person care
Sleep, work, relationships, health, history. Everything is connected, so everything is fair game in our sessions when it matters to you.
Real world tools
Insight is lovely, but you need things to try between sessions. You will always leave with something practical to work with.
The space
A quiet room on Juniper Street.
The office sits on a quiet stretch of Juniper Street, five minutes from downtown Austin. Comfy chairs, good light, plants that are somehow still alive, and strong coffee two doors down if you arrive early.
There is free parking behind the building and a separate side entrance if you would rather slip in quietly. For online sessions you get the same privacy from wherever you feel most comfortable.

The people who sit across from me are not cases or diagnoses. They are teachers, engineers, parents, students and business owners who decided that this year would be different. It is the bravest appointment most of them ever make, and it rarely feels as scary as the build up to it.

On who shows up in this room
Ready when you are
You can feel different. It starts with one conversation.
Booking takes about a minute. If you would rather talk it through first, call the office and we will figure it out together.
